PK

PK is a wrong number, with the right numerals - (1) Rajkumar Hirani as Director, (2) Aamir Khan as lead Actor and (3) CK Muraleedharan as DOP. Its heart is in the right place but its mind meanders, for two and half long hours, proving an obviously interesting point in the most obvious and uninteresting manner. Aamir overworks on himself, going tediously overboard in a tiresomely 'authentic' interpretation of a literally wide-eyed bhojpuri speaking alien (read bumpkin). From creature to caricature, poor PK has to fall in love as well, as an afterthought, to the this lissome desi lass from sadda Belgium, whose freshly worked-on lips fail to provide the balm to PK's cute as a cucumber search for Jesus, Allah and Ram.

P.S. Even though I have found a lot of PK hard to agree with, I am 100% with Hirani when he questions the questionable practices of organized religion, including Hinduism. If only the unfolding had met the highly desirable and honourable intentions.
